Can you build a website with Claude for free?

Yes. On Claude's free plan you can ask Claude to design a website, see it as an artifact, and publish that artifact as a public link. To put it online as a real website (its own address, a contact form that reaches you, changes later), connect a website host to Claude: on the free plan Anthropic allows one custom connector, and Ginta is also in Claude's connector directory. The one thing that always costs money is your own domain. Below: what each part costs, step by step, and what to ask.

Claude's plan details were checked in Anthropic's help centre on 5 November 2026. Ginta is our product.

What Claude's free plan can do

Claude Free Where it says so
Write the website (HTML, CSS) and show it as an artifact Yes Claude's apps
Publish an artifact as a public link Yes: "Publish" is on Free, Pro, Max and Ultra Publish and share artifacts
Your own domain on that link Not offered Same article
Connect a website host (remote MCP) Yes, one custom connector on Free Use connectors
A contact form that emails you Not by itself: needs a host

A published artifact is fine for showing a design to a friend. For a business it has three gaps: the address is Claude's, not yours; a form on it doesn't send anywhere; and search engines don't see it as your business's website.

Step by step: Claude Free + Ginta Free

  1. Connect Ginta to Claude. Open Ginta in Claude's connector directory, or add it as a custom connector with the address https://ginta.app/mcp (Settings → Connectors). A Ginta window opens: create a free account or sign in, and press Allow.
  2. Ask for the website in your own words: "Use Ginta to make a website for my dog grooming business in Leeds. Prices: small dogs £35, large dogs £55. Open Tuesday to Saturday. Phone 0113 496 0000." Give real details: the assistant shouldn't invent prices or phone numbers.
  3. Wait a minute or two. Claude designs the pages, publishes them with Ginta and checks the result on a phone and a computer. You get a link like your-name.ginta.page.
  4. Confirm your email with the link Ginta sends, so form messages reach your inbox.
  5. Ask for changes in the same chat: new prices, another photo, a booking section. Every change is saved as a version you can undo.

What it costs: nothing so far. Building through Claude uses no Ginta credits, because Claude does the AI work on your Claude plan. Ginta's free plan keeps the website online at its ginta.page address, with a small "Made with Ginta" badge, and includes booking, a shop, a menu and the other ready-made parts (with free-plan limits such as 30 bookings a month per website).

Questions

Do I need Claude Pro to build a website?

No. The free plan can write the website, publish it as an artifact link, and use one custom connector, which is all you need to put it online with Ginta. Pro gives you more usage, which helps with bigger websites.

Can I build a website with Claude Code for free?

Claude Code is part of Anthropic's paid plans, so check your plan. Ginta's side is free either way: see hosting a website made with Claude Code.

Can Claude see my customers' data?

Only through the connector, and only when you ask. Ginta's inbox tool shows messages with emails and phone numbers masked; Claude opens one message in full only when you ask it to reply to or call that person.

Will the website stay online if I stop using Claude?

Yes. The website lives in your Ginta account, not in the chat. You can change it in Ginta's own editor, download its code, or keep using Claude.

Is the published artifact link the same as a website?

No. It's a public page on Claude's address. Anthropic's article doesn't offer your own domain, and if you unpublish it you can't publish that artifact again. More in from a Claude artifact to a real website.
