Website for jewellery makers

A jewellery website where people choose a ring size, add an engraving and buy a gift

Jewellery is often a gift, bought by someone who doesn't know the ring size. The website has to say what it's made of and how big it is, help with the size, take an engraving, and show that it will arrive tracked and wrapped.

Free to start: finish the sentence, create a free account and confirm your email (25 free credits), and Ginta builds it right away.

Kestrel Silver, a jewellery website for Edinburgh: “Silver jewellery, made by hand in Edinburgh” with a Shop the jewellery button, the lines 100% recycled sterling silver, Free UK delivery over £50 and Engraving on rings, and a photo of a hammered silver ring on a grey stone
Kestrel Silver, a demo shop made through Ginta's MCP server for this page (a fictional business): rings in UK sizes J to R with engraving, a pendant by chain length, earrings, a ring sizer, gift wrap, gift cards and tracked delivery, priced in pounds.

What jewellery buyers check before they buy

  • The metal: sterling silver, gold vermeil, gold-filled, plated. Recycled or not, and the hallmark.
  • The size, in numbers: band width (3 mm), hoop size (12 mm), chain length (40, 45 or 50 cm).
  • Their ring size, or how to find it.
  • Engraving: what fits, and whether it changes the returns.
  • Delivery: tracked, how soon it's made or packed, and whether it comes wrapped.
  • Photos worn on a hand or an ear, so they can judge the scale.

The sections a jewellery website needs

  1. Top of the page: what you make and where, Shop the jewellery, the free-delivery line.
  2. The shop, by kind: rings, necklaces, earrings, extras, gift cards.
  3. How it's made: your metal, your bench, the hallmark.
  4. Ring sizes and care.
  5. Delivery and returns, with what engraving changes.
  6. About you and contact, for commissions and wedding rings.

Ring sizes as one choice, with a sizer for the unsure

Kestrel Silver's hammered band ring is one product with a size choice, UK sizes J to R. A size that's sold out is crossed out (size R, here) without hiding the ring. The pendant's choice is the chain length, and the 50 cm chain costs £3 more. The jewellery section says what to do when you don't know your size: order the £3 ring sizer (a product of its own, under Extras) or ask in the order note.

Engraving, and what it does to returns

Each ring can take the buyer's own text: "Engraving inside (up to 12 letters)" on the band, "Initials on the face (up to 3)" on the signet. The box shows on the product page once the shop takes payments; the text goes on the order line with the ring, and two rings with different engravings are two lines in the cart.

The returns line reads "Returns within 30 days (not engraved pieces)". In the EU, goods made to order or "clearly personalised" are an exception to the 14-day right of withdrawal for online purchases (Your Europe: returns). Ginta's Returns page for the shop lists personalised goods as not covered when you tick that, as Kestrel did. Check your own country's rules.

Hallmarks, if you sell in the UK

In the UK, describing a piece as silver, gold, platinum or palladium in trade needs a hallmark unless it's under the exemption weight (7.78 g for silver, 1 g for gold), and the rule applies to selling online as much as to a market stall (Hallmarking guidance notes, the Assay Offices of Great Britain, November 2022). Say on the page that your pieces are hallmarked, as Kestrel's product descriptions do.

Gifts: wrap, cards, a message

  • Gift wrap with a card for £3.50 is a tick box in the cart, never ticked for the buyer.
  • Gift cards of £25, £50 or £100 are emailed to the person the buyer names, with a message; what's left after a purchase stays on the card.
  • A sale price on the stacking rings (£52, was £60) and "You might also like" under each piece.

Delivery is tracked: UK £4 (free from £50), Europe £12, the rest of the world £18, or free collection from the Leith workshop. Prices are in pounds, and the shop has one currency, so buyers abroad pay in pounds too.

How it works with Ginta

Write your pieces with metal, sizes and prices, what can be engraved, where you post and your returns. Ginta builds the website with the shop, or your own Claude or ChatGPT builds it through Ginta's MCP server, as with this demo. Then add your own photos and mark sizes sold out in the Shop yourself, with no AI needed. Kestrel charges no VAT, so its shop says "No VAT is charged." under every price and on the receipts; a registered seller sets "Prices include VAT" and the rate. Reviews show on product pages only after you approve them.

The demo has no Stripe connected, so its buttons say Ask about this. Connect your own Stripe and buyers pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay; the money goes to your account and Ginta takes no commission. The Free plan holds up to 25 products per website (a ring in nine sizes counts once) at a name.ginta.page address; your own domain and up to 500 products start at €5 a month (with your own Claude or ChatGPT) or €19 on Light.

More: gift cards · add-ons such as gift wrap · product reviews · VAT line and receipts · Ginta Commerce.

Questions

What's the best free website for a jewellery business?

One that sells, not only shows: sizes as choices, engraving, delivery options and card payment. Ginta's Free plan has all of that for up to 25 products per website, with payments through your own Stripe account.

How do customers find their ring size online?

Offer a ring sizer as a cheap product, link a printable guide if you have one, and let people write "not sure, please send a sizer first" in the order note. A size table in centimetres helps people who measure an old ring.

Can buyers add an engraving?

Yes. Each product can have a text box with its own label and length limit, required or optional. The text is on the order line, so nothing gets lost between the cart and your bench.

Can I sell on Etsy and my own website?

Yes, many makers do. Link your website from your Etsy profile and Instagram, and bring your listings over from an Etsy export: Ginta vs Etsy.
